Florida Department of Transportation Pedestrian and Bike Safety Program

The Florida Pedestrian and Bicycle Program works in many areas to promote safe walking and bicycling in Florida. The office develops initiatives and programs to improve the environment for safe, comfortable, and convenient walking and bicycling trips and to improve the performance and interaction among motorists, bicyclists, and pedestrians. The Pedestrian and Bicycle Program serves as a clearinghouse for information concerning safety, design, and touring.

The website features a page of Walking Safety Brochures including "Crosswalk Safety" in English and Spanish and "Walkable Communities". These PDF brochures can be downloaded for free from the website and are available nationwide.

Cycling Safety publications are also available free of charge from the website. The brochures include (in PDF format) "Road riders are drivers: Florida's bicycle laws", "Florida Bicycle Law Enforcement Guide", "Street skills for young cyclists" and "How to fit a cyclist's helmet", which is also available in Spanish. The handbook "Florida Bicycling Street Smarts" can be downloaded free of charge directly from the website.
